I received a scam robocall stating there was a pending PayPal payment linked to my account. The call prompted me to press a button to connect with someone about this supposedly fraudulent transaction, which I know falls into the usual scam practices.
Be WARNED this is a scammer - a lot of calls from a scammer (Benjamin Smith) who identified as a representative of the credit card section of my bank, telling me that there had been a problem with my accounts & wanted me to transfer money between my accounts. He used these numbers 07 3167 6973 @ 1610 – 07 3305 1955 @ 1702 – 08 7092 6092 @ 1712 – 08 6388 0940 @ 1713, they are plain vermin.
I did not recognize this phone number and chose not to answer it. The caller did not leave any voicemail, which raises my suspicions.
I got a robocall that asked me to press 1 or 2 regarding a Visa card charge for purchasing Bitcoin. In curiosity, I pressed random numbers, 3, 4, 7, 6, 8, and 9 in succession. Eventually, a woman with an Indian accent answered, claiming to be the head of security. I told her I believed this was a scam and referred to her as a scammer, at which point she hung up on me.
481219: They claimed to be from PayPal and stated that I needed to confirm two $400 payments for gift cards. I don't even have a PayPal account. When I tried to call back, I was met with a low-quality automated service stating my call was important and that I was next in line. I hung up since it was obviously a scam trying to deceive people. I hope nobody falls for their tricks!
Indian accent male who knew my name and told me that my bank account was being used for some very bad activity, money laundering etc. Gave me a an ip address and demanded I go to Google Chrome and get a current ip address for him. I replied I don’t have Google chrome or a bank account with that bank. He yelled at me and said I must do it now or my account will be closed and my service will be stopped. I hung up. Another Scam!
The caller inquired if I had made an overseas payment of $499 earlier today. I played along and said yes, even though I don't bank with CBA. They then asked me whom I sent the payment to, prompting me to respond that my bank would never call and ask such personal information. After I said this, the caller abruptly hung up.
