    Didn't answer - they left a message. They were from Visa or Mastercard - I guess they couldn't decide which one. Apparently I have outstanding monies to pay. Could be a problem if I had a visa or mastercard. Losers, get an honest job..

    Calling to say National Broadband Network was sending error messages. When I said that I don't have National Broadband Network, they said my mobile phone is what they meant.

    Probably using a false Australian number. Foreign accent. Obviously a nuisance call, nothing better to do with their time. Extremely rude as well. Number blocked now end of problem.

    Another example of the current scam. Phone rings once and they "hang up". They hope you will ring them back. If you do, you will (unknowingly) be redirected to a "premium" number and end up paying them a lot of money. Please don't react to any missed calls if you don't recognise the caller's number. These people are scum.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
