Straight-up scam! I've got no business with the CBA, so jog on!
Got a call that had me genuinely questioning whether CommBank was ringing me up or just a dodgy bot. When it tried to say my name, it sounded like Stephen Hawking making a cameo from the great beyond! Pretty wild, honestly hoping it wasn't a scammer.
Started getting these calls in June—first they pretended to be from Commbank, then began leaving creepy voice messages claiming it was 'not marketing.' Called my bank and guess what? Totally a scam, no doubt about it!
They hit me up saying my credit card was overdrawn. Honestly, didn’t feel like a scam call to me.

I have received calls from this number today and once about six months ago. I have no dealings with Commonwealth Bank (CBA), so I find it odd that they're asking me for payment of an outstanding bill. I won't answer calls from this number.
I suspect this is a scam, as I have been receiving repeated calls from this number 5-10 times a day. They never leave a clear voicemail; instead, it's just 10 seconds of white noise. The number also appears to be changing every time, all starting with 07. It's getting really annoying. If you are a legitimate company, please leave a proper message.
This is related to Commonwealth Bank (CBA) collections or overdue payments. They mentioned missed payments regarding loans or mortgages. I advise anyone receiving such calls to avoid providing any personal information, including identification details.
“I received a scam automated call claiming to be from Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA). The message sounded very professional and included correct names. After calling back, it also imitated the CBA's front-end system and provided misleading instructions. It’s safer to assume that your bank will reach out to you directly and call you back if needed. Please block this number immediately.”
I received persistent calls from a number claiming to be from Commonwealth Bank, using my full name and instructing me to press any key to continue. I contacted the bank, and they confirmed they have no record of any outgoing calls to me, nor any issues with my accounts.
I understand it may seem like a scam call and it is always better to be safe than sorry.
It is actually CBA though. They only usually call and leave an automated message when you’re at least a week behind in making a payment on a credit card or a loan, etc that you have with them.
The person on the line claimed to be with Doctors Without Borders and mentioned they got my phone number and email from a Facebook quiz. They were very pushy about getting me to donate, and I only realized after hanging up that the email they used was my old Facebook email address, which I no longer actively use.
Fraud. This is not CBA.
It's a centre for Commonwealth Bank - they're chasing late Credit Card payments.
