Unsolicited call from 07 2140 0805 (Brisbane area code) but when I answered he said he was from Telstra calling from Perth to see if they could give me a better deal on the business account I oversee. He knew the name of the account and the amount of the last bill. He also knew my first name but wanted some other info to verify my identity. Twice I said I was not comfortable to do so particularly as it wasn’t my personal account. He then politely said he would then terminate the call.

He made out that he wanted to see if we were getting the best deal for our phone/internet so I said please email me the info as you would have my email address. He said he couldn’t do that as it was a special campaign. This sounded particularly fishy. There was noise in the background as if it was a call centre of some type but I’m not thinking Telstra.

I was suspicious but this seemed to a genuine Telstra call. He had a lot of info about my account that all made sense. Asked for my full name and DOB, which is usual but no other personal detail. Didn't ask for bank details or anything. We shall see.
