Just had this number call me regarding getting a better deal from Telstra. New my first name and that we had big pond as internet. Told me that my mobiles were a certain price at the moment but after checking our bill they are completely wrong. Obvious a scam.

I usually do not answer unknown phone calls, but I was waiting for a call from Brisbane, which is how I ended up picking this one up. It seems this number is pretending to be associated with Telstra based on previous messages I've received. Telstra, I urge you to take action against this impersonation!

A woman called me claiming she had my account information and could get me a better deal. She asked for my surname and date of birth. I was suspicious, so I refused to provide any details and asked her to email me, but I haven’t received a response yet!
Unsolicited call from 07 2140 0805 (Brisbane area code) but when I answered he said he was from Telstra calling from Perth to see if they could give me a better deal on the business account I oversee. He knew the name of the account and the amount of the last bill. He also knew my first name but wanted some other info to verify my identity. Twice I said I was not comfortable to do so particularly as it wasn’t my personal account. He then politely said he would then terminate the call.
He made out that he wanted to see if we were getting the best deal for our phone/internet so I said please email me the info as you would have my email address. He said he couldn’t do that as it was a special campaign. This sounded particularly fishy. There was noise in the background as if it was a call centre of some type but I’m not thinking Telstra.

I answered the call because it was from an 07 area code, but I was still cautious. I ended the call quickly, expressing doubt that it was a legitimate call from Telstra.
My experience with this number was quite similar to others who have reported. I caution against engaging with this caller as they seem suspicious.
Today, I got an anonymous call from this number, but I chose not to answer it.
They're fishing for information on Telstra customers. Hang up and don't give them anything.
I was suspicious but this seemed to a genuine Telstra call. He had a lot of info about my account that all made sense. Asked for my full name and DOB, which is usual but no other personal detail. Didn't ask for bank details or anything. We shall see.
During the call, I had a strong suspicion that something was off. The caller seemed to know I was a Telstra customer and provided details about my account. When I asked him to help lower my charges, he abruptly disconnected the call. I tried to call him back, and while he answered, he hung up on me again. I later contacted Telstra, and they confirmed they had no information about the call and suspected it was a scam.
Scam caller.
