    This is a genuine number calling on behalf of various companies for market research. I know this because my company uses them. I wish so many reporters would not jump to marking calls as a scam when it was just an unsolicited caller if they don't want to complete the survey.

    Caller stated he was from a research co on behalf of Melb City Council. When I stated I was not interested, he got really aggressive and screamed DO NOT HANG UP. I still hung up hahaha.

    Female voice, called my work landline and said "sorry wrong number" and then hung up. Then immediately after hanging up I get a call on my mobile from the same number - I refused to pick up. Block number!!

    Political survey call. Person had Aussie accent (seemingly, not an overseas call centre). Knew the law regarding the do not call register (political surveys are exempt). Probably not a scam.

    Like the others. Calls. Do not answer but they never leave a message. Always very similar looking numbers as other nuisance calls - 03-997.

    Calls me every second day but never leaves a message. If you call this number an answering service states that they are Kantar Marketing Research. Ignore!

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
