I was contacted by someone pretending to be from Visa and Mastercard, inquiring if I had used my card that day. When I asked for their location, they refused to answer and mentioned an amount that supposedly had been charged to my card. I told them I would call back, to which they encouraged me to do so. I later googled the number and found it listed on numerous scam warning pages.
I received a phone call on my mobile where the caller claimed to be from Visa, stating they were checking on a $500 payment made to Amazon. They asked if I had authorized this payment, referencing a random number about 10 minutes prior to their call. The caller had a heavy accent and was difficult to understand, so I informed them that I do not have a Visa card and ended the call.
