About the scam:
What type of scam is it?: Remote access scams.
How were you contacted by the scammer?: Phone (Voice).
When were you first contacted?: 04/06/2018.
What losses did you suffer?: Not applicable.
Briefly describe the scam: This is a known scam, but I managed to keep the caller on the line for nearly 37 minutes this time, a new record for me.
Caller (Adam Smith, employee number D98308) claims to be from Telstra Technical Department, when pushed for proof, the caller claimed that my account number was 000558679 (incorrect), when challenged again says to run a command ("assoc") to get the unique identifier for the user's PC and he will tell me what it is. .ZFSendToTarget=CLSID\{888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062} The caller then tells me the GUID claiming that it is proof that they are from Telstra. This string of characters will be on most modern Windows systems I'd bet.
The next step is to get the user to run the eventvwr to observer the thousands of perfectly normal/expected alerts and warnings. The caller assures the user that they can resolve the issues. The user is asked to download TeamViewer and connect to a 'partner ID'. In my case it was 903412700. I managed to get another one after I convinced the caller that the partner ID was not connecting. Then I got 757727881 from Adam's colleague (Steven Gray).
I am assuming that the next steps involve the caller getting the user to pay for software that will clean up the event logs etc. I have an audio recording of the call apart from the first couple of minutes.

Name: Adam Smith from Telstra Technical Department.
Stay safe folks. Don't confirm or give any personal information. The scams are getting more sophisticated and in time AI will automate the whole thing.
Phoned second time, scammers now from Telstra. Couldn't confirm our Account name then hung up.
Someone from this phone number has called my mobile three times in one hour. This is harassment and I am not appreciative! Fortunately I did not answer and after reading other peoples reviews I am glad! WE are on the do not call register and I am tired of answering the phone to find one of this sick people is ringing to try and gain my information.
Nice Indian accent lady rang and said she was from Telstra technical department and said my internet was bugged. She then put me on to a male person who wanted me on teamviewer to fix my internet but I told him no chance of that and he hung up .
Scammers - Technical Department of Microsoft. When I told him it was a croc he hung up. Phoned back the Landline but call could not be connected.
