What We Know
Reported on 24 May 2021, a user recounted receiving an unsolicited call from this number that claimed to be from Telstra, Australia's leading telecommunications provider. According to the user’s account, the caller insisted they were there to assist with internet connectivity issues, despite the recipient clearly not being a Telstra customer. Instead of offering a solution, the caller pushed the user to visit their PC under the guise of helping out people struggling with service problems—a tactic commonly seen in scam operations.
Why This Number is Considered Suspicious
- False Identity: The caller's claim of being from Telstra was misleading and deceptive, targeting individuals who might be experiencing internet issues.
- Unsolicited Call: The call was unsolicited; the recipient had not contacted Telstra or requested any assistance.
- Disconnection of Call Back Line: Attempting to call the number back resulted in a message stating that "the mobile number you have called has been disconnected", strongly indicating that the number is not affiliated with any legitimate company.
- Vague Location Reference: When pressed for specific area details, the caller only reiterated their "Telstra technician" line, refusing to clarify, which raises suspicion about their authenticity.

What Our Users Reviewed
Random call from a landline to my mobile. Said he is from Telstra wanting to fix my service even though I'm not with Telstra he wanted me to go to my PC to help with my connection because they're helping people struggling with internet problems in my area. I asked him "what area is that?" to which he repeated his "Telstra technician" line. I told him I haven't even asked anyone for a callback because of internet issues and to not call me again.
I hung up, called the landline back and surprise, surprise "the mobile number you have called has been disconnected"! Fair to say it was a sketchy, shady call.
