User Reports: The Common Themes

According to user feedback, multiple individuals received calls from this number claiming to be related to Amazon Prime subscriptions. These bogus calls often state that an automatic renewal is about to take place, charging an inflated fee of $99.99. However, several complaints confirm the callers either do not actually have an Amazon account or are unsolicited in their advances.

Understanding the Scam

  • Fake Subscription Renewal: Many callers reported receiving recorded messages attempting to lead them into believing their subscription services are about to renew. A common tactic here is to urge recipients to press '1' to stop the cancellation, often leading to either unsolicited follow-up calls or manipulation aimed at extracting payment information.
  • Disconnection Concerns: Interestingly, when users attempted to return the calls, they encountered a message declaring that the number is not connected. This suggests that 03 9336 5823 / 0393365823 is likely a spoofed number, complicating efforts to trace or cease these scams.
  • Robo Calls: Recipients also noted corrupted automated messages related to various services, including wire transfers- adding a layer of confusion and distrust that further compounds the issue.

Spam call about renewing Amazon Prime. Amazon doesn't call people regarding renewals. They are trying the person answering the call to press 1 to cancel the subscription. I am guessing by pressing 1 it enables them to do some sort of scam work..... Those scums.

The number (03) 9336 5823 has been reported as suspicious on other forums. When they called me, it stopped ringing after two rings and did not leave a message. Feeling suspicious, I turned off ‘show call ID’ for safety and called the number back, only to receive a telco message saying, “The number is not connected. Please check the number before calling again.” This raised my alarm, so I decided to block the number.

A robocall left a voicemail stating that there was a wire transfer pending from Western Union. This seems suspicious and I did not expect any transfers, raising concern about the legitimacy of the call.

When I attempted to call back, I was informed that this number is not connected. I'm baffled as to why these people are allowed to call me with a number that isn’t operational. It seems quite shady, and the service provider should not enable this behavior.
