I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA), stating that an unusual transaction of $399 had been made from my account. The caller had an Indian accent. When I asked if he knew who I was, he replied affirmatively and said that was the reason for his call. However, when I asked him to confirm my name, he abruptly hung up the phone.
Blocked number as my phone provider alerted me that call was potential fraud.
Scam. Calling to tell that me to verify a transcation in California… hung up when I said yes go ahead.
Caller hung up when answering machine operated. I do not recognise number as belonging to either a friend or relative. If a genuine reason for calling it is not difficult to leave a message on an answering machine. Please beware if this pest calls you.
I had a call today stating he was from the National Broadband Network & there was someone trying to hack into my account. I told him that I had a call a few weeks ago from a person with an Indian accent stating the same issue. When I told him the person that rang previously told me his name was Kevin Lewis & he worked for Telstra Cyber Security Department & that I had already reported his call to Telstra & Scamwatch he immediately hung up.
