I received a call regarding energy comparison services. I informed the caller, who had an Indian accent, that if there was nothing urgent, they should call me back later, as I was still at work. The caller insisted it was urgent because of rising energy costs, so I decided to hang up—no time for time-wasting calls.
I attempted to return the call twice and was only greeted by an answering machine asking for a message, after which the call abruptly ended.
The call had dead silence at the beginning, which is typical of auto-dialers as they scan for someone to connect you to an agent. This can be very unsettling.
The caller rang me at 3:09 PM. When I picked up and said hello, there was a significant delay, and I'm not sure they heard my response. After listening to the background noise of a call center for a while, they hung up without saying anything.

This number tried to call me five times over the space of an hour (23rd Aug 2023), but left no message. When I tried to call back, it went straight to an automated message that said “leave your message after the tone.”
Calls and then when you answer there's about 10 seconds of silence followed by a machine saying "goodbye". Likely telemarketer / unsolicited call - recommended block.
