The phone number 03 9123 1098 has garnered attention for being linked to an array of suspicious calls. User reports frequently identify this number as a potential scam, with various individuals claiming they were approached by callers impersonating legitimate companies such as Telstra and the Commonwealth Bank.

Classification of 03 9123 1098

Based upon user experiences, it is evident that 03 9123 1098 can be categorised as a scam number. Here are the key reasons contributing to this classification:

  • Impersonation of Legitimate Businesses: Callers from this number have repeatedly posed as representatives from well-known entities, including the Commonwealth Bank and Telstra. These impersonations aim to establish a false sense of validity while their true intention remains to obtain sensitive personal information.
  • High Incidences of Aggressive Behaviour: An alarming number of individuals reported aggressive and abusive language when they questioned the identity of the caller. This reaction is typical of scammers who feel cornered and use intimidation tactics to discourage victims from hanging up.
  • Unsolicited Requests for Information: Users reported being pressured to disclose personal details or to download suspicious applications suggested by the callers. Such requests should be deemed highly suspicious, as reputable companies never make unsolicited calls requesting sensitive information.
  • Silence and Hang-Ups: Several reviews indicate callers simply hang up on respondents or leave no message at all, which is a red flag often associated with scam calls.
  • Association with Recorded Messages: Instances of automatically generated recorded messages asking for payments further confirm suspicions. Though seemingly legitimate, these typically indicate a scam operation attempting to elicit responses that could lead to financial loss.

What Our Users Reviewed

The caller was overly eager to gain access to my internet and identifying themselves as my "internet savior." It raised a red flag for me because it seems unusual that I would need their help without even having struck up a conversation first.

Scam, was asking about previous Amazon order while having a baby screaming in the background. I haven't recently ordered from Amazon.

WH again from most of the other comments we can definitely say this is a scammer racket. DO NOT give them any details at all if you must answer for whatever reason. It is best not to answer it at all:-)

WH - These numbers should be disconnected by the Government. I have at least 30+ variations and all stored as Spam on my mob. That way I know never to speak to these criminal low lives. They keep trying in a relentless way. I agree with the poster above. Never ever answer an unknown phone call. They never leave a message either which is a big give-away.:-(

Please do not engage with these callers. Every time you answer, it can encourage their behavior and they may target more people. I recommend blocking these numbers and not engaging with them further.

I received a call at 2 AM from this number. Fortunately, my phone is set to send unknown callers straight to voicemail, so I have blocked the number.

This is the second time I’ve received calls from these people. I have already blocked their number, but they still managed to get through with a different number. I’m glad I didn’t answer!

After just receiving my flu shot, while I was rolling my sleeve back down, I got a call from this unfamiliar number. I chose not to answer since it was not in my contacts, and I have now blocked the number to prevent further calls.

A scammer called the user, who is encouraged to block and report. The caller attempted to extract personal information related to Commonwealth Bank.

P

I received a call from someone claiming to represent Commonwealth Bank. They tried to convince me to download a remote access app, but I just wasted their time with questions until they ultimately hung up.

I was greeted by a recorded message from Visa/MasterCard demanding payment of AUD 1300 for online shopping. I have blocked the number. I have also received similar calls from another number based in Adelaide, (08) 7092 2579.

I prefer not to answer calls from unfamiliar numbers. The negative reviews regarding this number reinforce my decision not to pick up calls from unknown callers.

Definitely a call centre. Lots of background noise of other call-makers and the usual delay before the other end starts speaking.

This number rang me at 5:45 PM and hung up when I answered and said hello. Probably a child or senile senior who is misdialling and then realised they've called strangers so hanging up without saying anything.

B
Bischoff

I received a call from this number, but they did not leave any voicemail or message for me to return the call.

M
Merricks

I answered the call, but there was complete silence on the line with no one responding.

C

I agree with Jen from Queensland about the scam calls. I had the same experience where an Indian man claimed he needed to “secure my connection.” When I expressed my distrust and mentioned I couldn't verify his identity, he immediately hung up without defending his claim. This happened in Victoria.

S
Suarez

I received a call from this number, but they hung up immediately. I have added it to my blocked list to prevent further calls.

S

I just received a call from someone stating that my internet was running slow. I advise everyone to avoid this number!

S

This is a scam! The caller claimed to be from Telstra and informed me that my internet was slow, and that they needed to help me switch to a private network. The issue is that I'm not a Telstra customer, raising my suspicions about the legitimacy of their claims.

152126: I received a call from an Indian call center purporting to be the Department of Justice. I have serious doubts about the legitimacy of this call, which has all the hallmarks of a scam.
