A female caller with a strong Indian accent claimed to be from Australian cybersecurity, stating that my phone number was being used to make calls in two different countries and that it was a serious issue. When I found this amusing and pointed out that she seemed to be scamming people from her own number, she abruptly hung up on me.
I received an automated call stating that $1800 was about to be charged to my debit card and instructed me to press a button to cancel it. I chose to hang up instead of engaging with this suspicious message.
The caller said there was an amount of $1,339.00 charged to my Visa Card. When I asked for the name of the bank, they mentioned five banks, none of which I use. They warned that if I hung up, I would be responsible for the amount. This is a SCAM!
I got another random call from this number, but they didn't leave a message. This is the second time I've experienced this in just a couple of months.
When I answered, there was complete silence, and then they hung up on me after about 30 seconds.
