Identifying the Scam behind 03 9076 2000

The phone number 03 9076 2000 / 0390762000 has drawn attention for all the wrong reasons, as it has been reported by users to be associated with a scam involving fake COVID-19 vaccinations. Malicious individuals often prey on the fears and uncertainties during health crises, and this number seems to be no exception.

Details of the Scam

According to user reports, a caller identifying himself as Adrian Barrel claims to work for a Coronavirus donation organisation at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. This deception involves an alarming proposal: the caller falsely asserts that the victim has unpaid vaccination bills and offers an unauthorised vaccine for a hefty cash payment of $15,000. This is a blatant scam as there is currently no approved vaccine for the virus being sold privately, let alone outside legitimate medical facilities.

The same caller is reported to have pressured victims into meet-ups in public spaces, further compounding the risk by appearing credible. His tall, thin Australian appearance only serves to enhance his dubious façade. In this case, a potential target, under the stress of the pandemic, was lured into considering a life-threatening transaction.

How to Handle Calls from 03 9076 2000

It is essential to remain vigilant and understand how to deal with such fraudulent calls. Here are some guidelines:

  • Do Not Engage: If you receive a call from this number, do not discuss personal information or agree to any transactions.
  • Verify Legitimacy: Always research the organisation mentioned. In this case, the caller claimed to work for a reputable hospital; do not take their word for it.
  • Report the Call: If you suspect a scam, report it to the relevant authorities, such as the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) or scamwatch.gov.au.
  • Use Reverseau: For future reference, consider using Reverseau for a reverse phone lookup in Australia, which can help identify suspicious numbers.

Conclusion

The number 03 9076 2000 / 0390762000 is clearly associated with a scam aiming to exploit the fears surrounding the pandemic for financial gain. Got a call from a man named Adrian Barrel saying he works for Coronavirus donation organisation at the Alfred hospital in Melbourne. Saying I didn’t pay my vaccination bill! There is no vaccination available for virus. He said he has a vaccination for the coronavirus if I can meet him across the road from the hospital in the park and pay him $15.000 cash shell give me the drug and injection to cure the virus. He keeps calling everyday and yes I did meet him at the park across from the hospital. His a tall thin Australian man. I said I have $15.000 cash show me the drug and injection he took it out of his pocket and said if you want the coronavirus vaccination cure show me the money. I walked away, he turned around and said that’s okay I have plenty other people that are interested in paying me the money to get the vaccination. I can’t believe he works in the ICU at the hospital and can get away with this.
