What Our Users Reviewed
I received a call from a number that was disguised as "MACQUARIE". Along with the call, I got a text message saying, "Macquarie: A login attempt was made from Wellington, NZ. If this was NOT you, please call us immediately on (03) 9018 6743." It's important to note that no one in my family has an account with any part of the Macquarie group, which makes this highly concerning.
I received an SMS alert stating that my Macquarie card had been accessed from a new device. The message instructed me to urgently call the number (03) 9018 6743 if it wasn't me accessing it. Since I do not have an account with Macquarie Bank, I decided to verify this by calling their official customer service number, 1300 555 778. They informed me that the number was not associated with them and that there were no accounts or actions under my name in their system.
I received an SMS stating that a Macquarie card was activated on a new device and instructed me to call to discuss it. Since I do not possess a Macquarie card, I assume this is a scam and checked the number on this website for confirmation.
Auto voice left a message telling me in ungrammatical English that they were from the ATO and that there was a lawsuit out against me. If I didn't ring back then they'd issue an arrest warrant. Pretty sure the ATO doesn't do things this way! Presumingly a scam.
I just recived a call from this number automated responses was they were from the tax department and I needed to contact them ASAP or an arrest warrant would be issued in my nam.
A scam. An automated message pretending to be ATO and threatening with legal action and an order of arrest if I didn't call back.
