He claimed that there was a "bad signal coming from my internet" and that overseas entities were using my internet without my consent. When I asked for his name, he said it was "John Parker," and he provided the phone number (03) 9016 9242. After promising to call him back, I googled the number and found concerning information.

Scam - Window + R scam where they told us you they are from Telstra Internet Services and that there is a hacker on our line using it to order drugs. Ask you to go to your computer and hit the Windows plus R. Just tell them you want the drugs and that it is you and they will be really confused.
