However, none of these individuals were actually customers of McAfee, raising a significant red flag.

Nature of the Scam

Emailed by McAfee that I'll be charged 399.99 for auto renewal of my subscription for an extra 3 yrs. I have used McAfee before but the email coming from a person's name and not the company, as well as the very simple "invoice" with no branding made me suspicious. I checked some of my past emails from McAfee and all came from the legit company, as well as the fact that I cancelled my auto renewal last year anyway.

So checked up this phone number provided, seems they've tried it on with a few people. Do Not Trust!

I received an email claiming that my McAfee computer security subscription had been auto-renewed. It offered a refund of $399.99 if I called this number. Since I have never used McAfee, this seems to be a feeble attempt at scamming.
