This number has been calling me saying that they’re from ATO asking me to pay back money to ATO if I don’t do it I will be arrested and prosecuted. They are Indian.
This is a voice recorded message stating they are acting on behalf of the Tax office and that they are filing a case against you. This is the first on this site with this particular number, but there are others that have the last 4 digits different that say the same thing.

They pretend they are from the ATO and that you owe them money, and an arrest warrant has been issued for your arrest if you don’t pay them today.
They don’t answer any of your questions & if you ask for clarification, then they transfer you to their supervisor who tells you a similar story but some of the dates and number values are inconsistent. They will also tell you to look up another number on Google (061262161111- the first 2 Google entries are twitter sites) to verify it’s the ATO, but further down the Google page you see the 062162611111 number has been listed as a scam number. The Real ATO website has the 62161111 number listed as scam.
I received a call from that number saying they're from ATO and accused me of fraud by not declaring my income properly which is impossible as I don't have any business. They wanted me to settle upfront the sum of $4998. If not the court will issue warrant for my arrest. They won't allow. Me to discuss first with my accountant which sprang my suspicion. Good enough my colleague heard our convo and confirmed it was a scam as he got the same scenario over phone a couple of months back. I straightaway hang up. Please be mindful on this. Thanks.
ATO scam. Say they've filled a lawsuit against your name. don't want your TFN or ABN, only want your full name and address.
I had a few missed call from this number and calling back the operator claimed to be from the fraud squad of the ATO.
An automated voicemail with an American accent alleging that I am under investigation. I have a tax agent looking after my affairs so this is utterly rubbish.
Upon calling them, someone with an Indian accent (so it appear to be a call center) and telling them nicely that I don't believe they have made a genuine case, the operator was being quite rude and hand up on me instead of trying to explain the situation.
Scam said is was the tax office investigating tax fraud.
