The nature of these calls is concerning, revolved around misleading claims that an individual's internet is under threat or being hacked by overseas parties. These types of scams not only create panic but are designed to fish for personal information through a disguised sense of urgency.

What Users Are Reporting

In the reports from users, many claim to have received automated messages warning them that their internet security has been compromised. The messages are manipulative, suggesting that immediate action is necessary to prevent disruptions to their service, ostensibly from a known provider, Telstra. This method exploits fear, hoping to lead victims into calling the provided number.

Why It’s Classified as a Scam

  • Automated Messages: The calls feature automated messages, which are often a hallmark of scam tactics where impersonation of legitimate companies is attempted.

These people just do not give up! They say our internet is being hacked by overseas people and will be disconnected for the next three months!! REALLY????? However, if we dial 0390159422 we will be put through to a Telstra technician who could help us. Again - REALLY??? Don't give them time of day and absolutely DO not dial the number.
