    Said he's from Telstra and internet had illegal traffic on my line then when I questioned him he said if I needed proof have a look at the lights on your connection from modem to your pc and you'll see they are blinking which means someone is using your internet. Rung my computer bloke and he explained they always flash.

    Received a call stating that they are from Telstra, from 242 Exhibition Street, Melbourne, saying that my internet connection keeps dropping out and has unauthorized users on it. They asked whether my computer was working, and if I could jump to my home page, and they would show me how to access it!?!?!?

    I had a call from a so called Mike Wilson who gave his staff number as DLS205018 and this number 0390137095 24 May 2022 he said he was from Telstra and I had a problem with my Internet connection. First of all Telstra never call you for any reason. They want you to use their website. Also I don't have an internet connection with Telstra!!! So yes I believe it is a scam and hung up.

    Man with an Indian accent calling himself Mike Wilson from Telstra calling me about unauthorised use of my internet. Gave me a number I could call to verify his authority (03) 9013 7095) but asked me to stay on the call to him while I did so. I hung up and immediately received 2 calls from 2 different suss numbers. Scammers!

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
