    I had a call yesterday afternoon from 03 90135408. Was an english gentleman who said he was from ING bank fraud department. Said that someone had tried to use my card to purchase an item for $2800 and wanted to know if was me. As I had genuinely had fraud on my other ING account a year ago, I listened to him. I said what card was it? He said the card that started with 462263. I had a look at my card and thought ok thats what my card is. Then he said he had to cancel that card and send me a new one and reset up my internet banking. Bing bong that wasn't happening then my fears of a scam were confirmed when he asked for my client number. I told him I wasn't going to tell him anything and will call ING myself. He started carrying on but I just hung up on him. Called ING and they said ALL ING cards start with 462263! Damn scammers need to get a proper job!!!!

    I got two calls from this number today, the first time I picked up and the second time I just ignored it. As the comments below suggest, a "Jackson White' (badge number DC786556) from the ATO wanted my personal info. I asked why and he said that he had to look me up in the system?! I knew something was fishy and hung up. There is NO WAY the ATO would call like that! Beware of Jackson White!!!

    Gave fake name with six 10 character long middle names to test the waters and old mate persisted that it was definitely me that was under arrest for tax fraud. Don't fall for it and just take the piss with them.

    BAHAHAHA what a joke. Asked for all my details and said that there was a taxation lawsuit for fraud under my name and that he needed to know my birthdate before explaining the case to me (I stupidly gave me name and address) and then I hanged up even though he was persistent that it was not a scam! WHAT A JOKE.

    Call from Tax Sept said I was being arrested please press 1. I ignored it and say them a song. Some woman told me I was going to die. Rang back repeatedly for over an hour during which time the phone picked up 5 more times. All with different men - Indian accents. They told me they didn't care that I called the police and used some very creative swear words. I gave them a few lectures on ethical behaviour which I found funny but they didn't. Told me I was going to be kidnapped. How exciting! Haven't had this much fun in lockdown for ages!!

    This is a scam caller. He kept saying he would tell me what the call was about but never got to after a minute and a half. Instead was giving me the name “Jackson White” which a very very thick accent and when I told him I was becoming annoyed and I wanted an explanation for the call, he told me to calm down and the call was recorded.

    Absolute scam do not answer the call.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
