    Caller claimed to be from the Australian Taxation Office, unless I returned their call a warrant for my arrest would be issued, recorded message, ending in thank you and god bless you, clearly a scam.

    This is a fake tax office claiming that unless a certain amount is transferred you will have to go to court. Believe me, I don’t make enough money for the amount the man asked for. Please report the number. These types of people target the elderly and it’s really sad to think someone could get tricked by them.

    Robocall apparently from ATO saying arrest warrant would be issued if call doesn't get returned. Getting tired of these calls on a daily basis. Block one number, then another call from another number.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
