SCAM - Received a call from this number claiming to be NAB Fraud and checking on an attempted fraudulent purchase at Hilton in Darwin. Female caller identified as Sarah Johnson and told me my banking app was logged into by someone else. Asked me to supply my bank balance. Sounded suspicious so I ended the call and rang my bank fraud team directly - they confirmed it was a scam.
My dad got a call this afternoon from a Sarah" reportedly from NAB, saying someone in Darwin is using my dads card (they had my dads full name, email address and last 4 digits of the card) and said he needs to set up some sort of online banking insurance, asked him to log into his online banking. This morning (4.10.2024) at 10.09 am, I received a call from a landline, No. (03) 9005 8430. The caller said, "Am I speaking to (my name)?" I said,"No." He said, "I am from (bank name)." I said, "No, you're not." He said, "You live at (my address)." I shouted, "Stop being a f*king scammer." He said, "I know where you live. I will come for you at night and I will kill you in your sleep." I laughed at him and said, "Now I know you're a f*king scammer!" He hung up.
I have received more phone calls from scammers than I care to count but this one unnerved me because the call originated from a landline; he knew my name (and even pronounced it correctly - most don't); he knew my address and the name of the bank I used. When he made the threat about killing me in my sleep, someone in the background said something which I took to be a warning not to say such a thing.
