This is a scam.
A recorded message said “This is the Commonwealth Bank did you authorize a payment of $1800 from your debit card? Press 1 if no 2 if yes. I pressed 1 and immediately a man with a thick Indian accent was on the line. He said “This is Commonwealth Bank fraud department did you authorize this payment? (I said no). Someone is trying to charge your debit card. We need some more information to ensure this does not go through”. I said “Ok I will hang up and call the Commonwealth Bank Fraud department to make sure it’s really them. He said “Do it fast” and abruptly hung up.
Scam call bank transactions.
I received a call around 4:45 PM on Thursday from this number, which I didn't recognize, so I didn't answer. They left a voicemail in which a person with an accent, speaking in a commanding tone, claimed my phone had "abnormal usage" and that my service would be terminated soon. They instructed me to select '1' for English or '2' for Chinese. This seems suspicious and clearly a scam, so I will block this number.
