Telstra Impersonation Reports for 03 9003 4534

Three contributors have reported suspicious activity from 03 9003 4534 (also written as 0390034534). The most serious report involves callers impersonating Telstra, claiming there's a problem with the recipient's internet IP address. Contributors describe a classic tech support scam where callers pressure victims to download software enabling remote access to their computer.

One contributor who answered a call from 0390034534 reported that the scammers then attempted to get them to log into their online banking while the scammers had remote control of the computer. This is a critical indicator of financial theft intent - the goal is to capture banking credentials and drain accounts while posing as the victim.

What Callers from 03 9003 4534 Claim

Callers from 03 9003 4534 identify themselves as Telstra representatives, exploiting the company's trusted brand. They open with a technical problem narrative - specifically claiming there's an issue with the recipient's internet IP address. This creates false urgency and legitimacy.

The next step in the script involves requesting remote access. The caller asks the recipient to download and install software that grants them control over the computer. Once access is granted, the caller then instructs the victim to open their online banking portal while the scammer watches and can capture login credentials.

A second category of calls from this number involves telemarketers claiming to represent an energy company called Energy Savers. These calls persist despite contributors requesting removal from calling lists and being registered on the Do Not Call Register.

A third report describes a different approach - callers claiming to represent a loan company, hanging up immediately when questioned about how they obtained the phone number.

Report Patterns and Activity

The three reports span late January 2026, with the most recent on 28 January. All calls were answered, indicating the callers successfully connected with recipients. The variation in approaches across the reports - tech support impersonation, energy telemarketing, and unsolicited loan offers - suggests 03 9003 4534 may be used by multiple entities or part of a wider call campaign network.

One contributor noted they have received dozens of calls from the Energy Savers telemarketers over years, indicating this is a persistent and recurring issue from this number rather than isolated activity.

What to Do If You Receive a Call from 03 9003 4534

If 03 9003 4534 calls you:

  • Do not: Download any software the caller requests, grant remote access to your computer, or share banking details
  • Do not: Answer requests to log into online banking or financial accounts during the call
  • Do: Hang up immediately if the caller claims to be from Telstra or any tech support service you didn't contact
  • Do: Contact Telstra directly on 133 200 using a phone number you find independently if you're concerned about your account
  • Do: Block this number in your phone settings to prevent future calls
  • Do: Report the call to the ACMA and Scamwatch if you provided any information

Tech support scams rely on psychological pressure and false authority. Legitimate service providers never cold-call asking you to download software or grant remote access.

Scammers pretending to be Telstra, claiming there's a problem with your internet IP address, they want you to download software that lets them remote control your computer, then they'll get you to login to your online bank while they're in your computer and then you'll have no more money.

Annoying indian telemarketing (likely scam) call from an energy company. They call themselves Energy Savers. I have had dozens of calls from these pests over the years despite being on the do not call register and asking the people calling to remove me from their list several times.

They said they were from a loan company, I said how did you get my number & I don’t want a loan, they hung up.

It’s gotta be some kind of scam.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 03 9003 4534 really Telstra calling me?

No. Telstra will never cold-call you asking you to download software or grant remote computer access. A contributor who answered a call from 03 9003 4534 reported the callers impersonating Telstra but using high-pressure tactics typical of scammers. If you're unsure about your account, hang up and call Telstra directly on 133 200.

What happens if I download the software they ask for?

If you download and install software from callers claiming to be from Telstra or tech support, the scammers gain complete control over your computer. One contributor to Reverseau reported that after granting remote access from 0390034534, the caller attempted to access their online banking. Remote access software allows criminals to see everything on your screen, including passwords and financial details.

Why do they want me to log into online banking during the call?

While a scammer from 03 9003 4534 has remote control of your computer, watching you log into your online bank allows them to capture your login credentials. Once they have this information, they can access your account independently and transfer or steal your money. This is why you should never log into banking or financial accounts when remote software is active on your computer.

I've been receiving calls from 03 9003 4534 about Energy Savers. What should I do?

Multiple contributors have reported Energy Savers telemarketing calls from 0390034534 that continue despite Do Not Call Register registration. You can lodge a complaint with the Do Not Call Register at donotcall.gov.au. Block this number in your phone settings. If the calls persist or become harassing, report to ACMA at acma.gov.au.

How did they get my phone number?

One contributor who received a loan company call from 03 9003 4534 asked this exact question before hanging up. Scammers source phone numbers from data breaches, purchased contact lists, or random dialling. The fact that a caller has your number does not mean they are legitimate or that you should trust their claims.

Should I report this number to the police?

For tech support scams like those reported from 03 9003 4534, report to Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au) first. If you've actually transferred money or had unauthorised account access, you should also contact your bank and file a report with Australian Cyber Security Centre at cyber.gov.au. The ACMA (acma.gov.au) handles complaints about persistent unwanted calls.
