Telstra Impersonation Tech Support Scam Reports for 03 9003 1185

Five contributors have reported calls from 03 9003 1185 (also written as 0390031185) involving aggressive impersonation of Telstra staff. The scam pattern centres on callers falsely claiming affiliation with Telstra's fraud team or technical support, then attempting to gain access to victims' IP addresses and personal information. Multiple reports describe callers with Indian accents operating from noisy call centre environments.

One particularly detailed voicemail report captured the scammers accidentally leaving a message while still connected, revealing a busy call centre with multiple voices. In the background, a voice could be heard yelling "give me your ip address or else", exposing the aggressive intimidation tactics used in this operation.

What Callers from 03 9003 1185 Claim

Callers impersonating Telstra from 0390031185 use several consistent opening approaches. One contributor reported a caller claiming to be "Jake Wilson from Telstra Fraud Team" who cited "reg flags" (emphasis on the unusual phrasing) allegedly pointing to the victim's IP address. When the contributor questioned this claim, stating they had no affiliation with Telstra, the caller became aggressive and yelled "EVERYONE IS WITH TELSTRA".

Other reports about 03 9003 1185 describe callers initiating conversations about internet connection issues or security concerns related to IP addresses. The callers remain vague about specific problems but consistently push the conversation toward obtaining personal information. When challenged or when victims declare they aren't Telstra customers, most callers from 0390031185 either become hostile or abruptly disconnect.

The scammers appear trained to handle resistance, but their aggression escalates quickly. One contributor noted the caller became "narky" when questioned, then explicitly hostile when their claims were disputed. This pattern suggests a high-pressure sales operation rather than legitimate technical support.

Call Patterns and Timing

Reports of calls from 03 9003 1185 span from late February to early April 2026, with activity clustering in late March and early April. Two recent reports from April indicate the scam operation remains active. Multiple contributors received calls during standard business hours, though the voicemail capture occurred outside normal office hours, suggesting 24-hour operation.

The call centre environment is consistently reported across multiple contributors. One voicemail accidentally captured intense background chatter with people "laughing and talking really loud in Hindi", confirming an overseas operation. The scammers typically answer on first attempt (not automated systems), suggesting a live-agent calling operation with significant staffing.

Said she was calling from Telstra wanting to discuss my IP address, hung up

N

I had a missed call from this number which went to voicemail.

I believe the caller did not intend for it to go to voicemail and believed they had hung up as I could hear a noisy call centre environment of people laughing and talking really loud in Hindi. Among the laughter and chatter, I could hear another voice yelling "give me your ip address or else"

This went on for quite some time before the scam caller realised they had not disconnected the call.

Needless to say - please be aware people! Seems the scammers posing as Telstra are back at it again.

Indian accent make claiming to be Jake Wilson from Telstra Fraud Team. Said there were "reg flags" (yes, he said REG FLAGS as I asked him to repeat that 3 times) pointing at my IP Address.

I told him this was impossible and he got a bit narky, saying "why would you say that?" To which I replied I have no affiliation with Telstra.

He then got rather aggressive and yelled "EVERYONE IS WITH Telstra"

I said well I'm not everyone, hung up, blocked number.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are scammers claiming to be from Telstra's Fraud Team when calling 03 9003 1185?

Claiming to represent a fraud team creates false urgency and authority. Multiple reports about 0390031185 show scammers use this tactic because victims are more likely to trust and comply with someone claiming to protect them from fraud. The "Telstra Fraud Team" claim is entirely fabricated - Telstra does not operate this way. The scammers hope victims will provide IP addresses or remote access before realizing the deception.

What does it mean when the caller from 03 9003 1185 mentions 'reg flags' on my IP address?

This is entirely false. Callers from 03 9003 1185 (0390031185) cannot detect problems with your IP address through a phone call, and generic IP addresses do not trigger fraud flags. The scammer is using technical-sounding language to intimidate you into cooperating. One contributor noted the caller repeated "reg flags" three times, suggesting it was deliberately vague language chosen to sound credible without being verifiable.

Should I stay on the line if the caller from 0390031185 becomes aggressive?

No. Hang up immediately. Legitimate companies never use aggressive language, yelling, or threats during customer service calls. One contributor from 03 9003 1185 reported the caller yelling "EVERYONE IS WITH TELSTRA" when challenged - this is a massive red flag. Aggression is a scam indicator, not a sign of legitimate support. Block the number after disconnecting.

What should I do if I already gave my IP address to someone who called from 03 9003 1185?

An IP address alone is not immediately dangerous, but combined with other information, it could be misused. If you gave remote access, change your passwords immediately, run antivirus software, and contact your bank if you entered any financial information. Report the call from 0390031185 to Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au) and ACMA (acma.gov.au) so authorities can track the scam. Monitor your accounts for suspicious activity.

How can I verify if a call claiming to be from Telstra is genuine before giving information?

Always hang up and call Telstra back using the number on your bill or the official Telstra website. Never use a number provided by the caller. Genuine Telstra support will provide a reference number, allow you to disconnect and call back, and will never demand immediate action or threaten consequences. Reports about 03 9003 1185 show scammers cannot withstand even basic verification attempts.

Why was there a voicemail with people laughing and someone yelling about IP addresses from 0390031185?

One contributor accidentally captured a voicemail when the caller from 03 9003 1185 failed to disconnect properly. The background noise revealed a busy call centre with multiple staff, and amid the chatter, another voice yelled "give me your ip address or else". This proves the operation is a large-scale scam running from an overseas call centre, not a legitimate Telstra facility. The background confirmed Hindi-language conversation, indicating an Indian call centre operation.
