    I got the same scam call on a work extension!! So this is purely a scam targeting random numbers. The funny thing is the person doesn't even know who they want to talk to.

    Yeah, we got the same call too from 'Officer Daniel Smith'. The message was left on our home phone, but I didn't bother checking the 101 for a few days. I guess we're stuffed because apparently the issue is very time sensitive and a legal situation is currently unfolding.

    Oh well.....(Moron!).

    I also received the same call from Daniel Smith on Sep 1.2016 (or so I think from the bad accent). As with the other posts, it did not mention you the call was directed to.

    Some dude with a horrible English accent left a message - in a very arrogant and demanding tone, saying he was "Officer Gaden Smith" from the "Crime Investigation Department at the ATO".

    Said some crap about "the issue at hand is very time sensitive" and that "The very second you receive this message, I need YOU to call - or your attorney, to give us a call".

    He also threatened that "If you disregard this message... And if I don't hear back from you, then the legal situation falls on YOU.".

    Firstly - I don't believe for one minute that the ATO would communicate with people in this crappy way (very unprofessional - all of it, and in such a particularly rude "ar*ehole" tone!).

    Also, didn't even say WHO in our household the message was actually for (big red flag!!! Total bullshit alert!!!).

    Personally, I hope this piece of scum rots in HELL. What a creepy, nasty little f*cker!!!

    The ATO should catch him and torture the little pr*ck.

    Dude, just remember - one day Karma WILL bite you on the arse for this. I hope you end up as a car crash victim - and they donate your organs to some genuine needy people. It sounds like the only way you'll doing ANYTHING positive for others, instead of going around, scaring the crap out of people, and ripping them off.

    You belong in JAIL. And you need some good quality Guantanamo Bay techniques applied - for all the pain and suffering you have created for others, by scamming them. I hope you die a slow and painful death, you horrid excuse for a human being!

    Received phone message from this number today stating they were ATO and I or my attorney needed to contact Daniel Smith and this was at time sensitive matter. Sounds like a recorded message. This is not how ATO contacts you regarding debts. SCAM.

    Stating they are from ATO, asking for either me or my attorney to contact them straight away. Comes up as a private no.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
