    Claiming to be calling about my electricity - not selling me anything but about my bill. Already had my name, told them I can find out information online and promptly hung up. Block this number.

    Received call about energy savings.

    Malasian / Phillo accent.

    Harley understandable claiming to be from an Australian company that was undecipherable when said and repeated.

    I answered with my name as you do when answering the phone. Now they have my name however I asked how they obtained my name, response no comment.

    Further pressed them for who they were and how they came to contact me and was promptly disconnected.

    Some bogus claim of 42% energy saving on my power bill.

    I looked up this number, found this thread and thus the above comment.

    Attempted callback, Optus error message of 'call could not be connected'.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
