Energy Provider Impersonation Reports for 03 8611 2252
Three contributors have reported calls from 03 8611 2252 (also written as 0386112252) claiming to represent energy retailers. The pattern involves callers impersonating legitimate Australian energy companies-specifically Lumo Energy and Origin-and using personal account information to pressure recipients into account changes or plan upgrades.
What distinguishes these reports about 0386112252 is the depth of personal data the callers possessed. One contributor noted the callers had their full address details and knew which energy provider they were with. Another reported the scammers had their meter number on file. This level of access suggests the callers may have sourced information from public records, data breaches, or purchased lead lists.
What Callers from 03 8611 2252 Claim
The specific claims vary by call. One report describes a caller from 03 8611 2252 offering a special energy deal while claiming to follow up on price changes. A second incident involved a caller impersonating Lumo Energy who claimed the recipient's residential plan was invalid because a small home office was registered at the address, insisting a switch to a Business plan was mandatory. When challenged, this caller from 0386112252 became aggressive and hung up before attempting to ring back twice more.
A third report details a particularly persistent approach: callers contacted a small business six times over several days claiming to represent Origin Energy. During these calls from 03 8611 2252, the scammers referenced specific account details including the meter number. Notably, they made a slip-up-mentioning AGL at one point-and when the recipient verified directly with Origin, the company confirmed the calls did not come from them.
Call Patterns and Frequency
Reports about 0386112252 show varying contact intensity. One contributor experienced two callback attempts after the initial call. Another business received six separate calls within a few days from the same number, suggesting persistence after initial rejection. The calls came through as answered calls from a Telstra local service number in Victoria, giving an appearance of legitimacy that the impersonation exploited.
What to Do If You Receive a Call from 03 8611 2252
If 03 8611 2252 calls you claiming to represent your energy provider, do not engage with requests to change plans or confirm account details. Hang up immediately. Energy retailers will not cold-call demanding plan changes, and they will not threaten service disconnection or account invalidity over the phone.
To verify any legitimate communication from your energy provider, end the call and contact them directly using the phone number on your billing statement or their official website. Never use callback numbers provided by unsolicited callers. If the caller from 0386112252 or similar numbers becomes aggressive or threatens service action, this is a strong indicator of scam activity.
If callers from 03 8611 2252 have already obtained personal information, monitor your account for unauthorised changes. Log into your energy provider's portal directly (not via any link provided by the caller) to check for plan changes or pending modifications.
What to Do If You Receive an SMS from 03 8611 2252
Do not click any links in SMS messages from 03 8611 2252. Energy providers will not send urgent account links via text. Report the message as spam through your phone's built-in reporting function and forward it to 0429 999 888 (the ACMA's SMS spam reporting number).

What Our Users Reviewed
Sounds like a dodgy overseas call centre, rang multiple times banging on about bills, now blocked
Pretending to be from an energy provider following up about price changes, offering some special deal
Company called claiming they were Lumo Energy and that I was unable to continue with a residential electricity plan as a business (small home office only) is registered at my address, told me I had to change to Business plan and that they would assist me. Refused to play ball with them, told them they were scammers and would sort it out with Lumo directly, they got angry at me so just hung up on them. They have tried to ring back twice since.. Lumo says home offices ok under residential plans. Worrying thing is they have all the details of my address and who I am with.
Super pushy, hit the business up 6 times in a few days saying they were Origin but stuffed up and said AGL instead, had all our account details including the meter number, rang Origin and they said it wasn't them

WRITE A REVIEWFrequently Asked Questions
Why do callers from 03 8611 2252 have my account details and meter number?
Contributors who received calls from 03 8611 2252 reported that callers had specific personal information including address, meter number, and current energy provider details. This data may have come from public records, purchased lead lists, or data breaches. The possession of this information does not mean the caller is legitimate-scammers routinely use personal details to build false credibility. Always verify independently by contacting your energy provider directly using a number from your bill or their official website.
One caller from 0386112252 said I couldn't keep my residential plan because of a home office. Is that true?
No. A contributor received this exact claim from 0386112252 impersonating Lumo Energy, but when they contacted Lumo directly, the company confirmed that home offices are permitted under residential plans. This was a false threat used to pressure the recipient into accepting a plan change. Energy retailers will not invalidate your plan over an unregistered home office, and they will not demand immediate plan changes via unsolicited calls.
What should I do if 03 8611 2252 calls me multiple times?
One business received six calls from 03 8611 2252 within a few days. Do not answer subsequent calls from this number. Block 03 8611 2252 on your phone immediately after the first unsolicited call. Report the repeated contact to the ACMA (acma.gov.au) as harassment and to Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au). Persistent calling after rejection is typical scammer behaviour, not legitimate energy provider contact.
How can I tell if a call from 03 8611 2252 is really my energy provider?
Legitimate energy providers will not cold-call offering deals or demanding plan changes. If you are uncertain, hang up and contact your provider directly using the number on your billing statement or their verified website-not any number provided by the caller. When contributors from 03 8611 2252 verified with Origin, the company immediately confirmed the calls did not come from them.
What if I already gave information to a caller from 0386112252?
If you shared sensitive information like credit card details, bank account numbers, or proof of identity with a caller from 0386112252, contact your energy provider's fraud team and your bank immediately. Monitor your accounts for unauthorised activity. Report to ReportCyber (cyber.gov.au) and Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au). If financial loss occurred, consider reporting to the Australian Federal Police (afp.gov.au).
Can I block calls from 03 8611 2252 on my phone?
Yes. Most phones allow you to block numbers directly through your contacts or call history. On iPhone, open the call log, select the call from 03 8611 2252, and choose 'Block this Caller'. On Android, use the call blocking feature in your Phone app or install a third-party spam blocker. Additionally, register with the Do Not Call Register (donotcall.gov.au) if you wish to reduce unsolicited marketing calls, though this does not prevent scammers from calling.
