I received a call from this number but they did not leave a message. I chose to block this number afterward.
The caller identified themselves as part of Next Steps Australia, a supposed charity. They asked about my well-being and, after I shared that I am currently unemployed and not feeling well, they quickly ended the call without offering any assistance.
A number of numbers such as this one are used by an excited robotic sounding girl for "the fundraising centre"... Saying they have to meet a quota of three people to donate to various charities like domestic violence charity "Next Step". They say two people have donated and you are the third one who could donate. I suspect this is a scam. The lady has talked to me when I tried to engage her in conversation but she goes straight back to her script. I've received three calls today from numbers that are very similar, all from Clayton, Victoria, and four more calls yesterday. I keep blocking each one, but a new call from the same geographical area keeps coming in about two hours later. Each time, my phone identifies it as “suspected spam,” which is becoming really annoying.
After blocking a similar number, I was called back just five minutes later from a different number that was close to the original one. It appears to be the same charity scam, and I wish I could text them about it to warn them off my line.
When I picked up the phone, the caller hung up right away. My phone marked this number as "Suspected Spam," so I would advise blocking it to avoid any issues.
