    Just had a call from this number. Asked for me by name. Said looking for donations for a Dr Stott from heart foundation which made me suspicious as they don't normally mention anyone's name! "Lovely older lady" called to throw people off. She hung up when I said had no money. Heart Foundation do not ask for money for specific names!

    Had a call from this number on 25/5/2017, did not answer it.

    Also had a call from SIMILAR number, one digit difference.03 8582 0803 today 1/6/2017 11.31 a.m. It was a survey, two or three questions regarding charities. I think I have had them before; they know my second Christian name (which I am known by) but it is a variation of that name, not accurate. I did have my name down with a survey company some time ago, maybe they got my name from there. I was given a website name that I could check on, but unfortunately could not understand it - caller had thick accent and I have reduced hearing.

    Apple Marketing placing 'auto dial' calls and ignoring the Australian Do Not Call register. Well what should we expect? They don't pay their taxes so why would they follow our consumer laws. A plague on their house.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
