    Called me by name and almost immediately asked to confirm my details. Said "let's start with your verbal pass code" I declined to give out my details and he offered to text me a link ?... So I asked for an email so that I could verify that it's legitimate and he said he would send it straight away, and I never heard from him. Obviously doesn't have my email. I think it's pretty sketchy.

    Just asked for my name. And continue talking as if he's real. Told him I'll ring ANZ myself and he hung up straight away. Blocked the number immediately after.

    Left a voicemail mentioning my name saying they were from 'inaudible' bank and that I should call back and press option 1. Seems like they've got new scammy tricks.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
