    Same here. Caller left voicemail yesterday 22 Oct about ATO debt. Googled number (03) 8515 4287 because ATO does not EVER leave voicemail messages about unpaid tax. Total scam.

    Received a call on 22/10/15 at approx 4pm telling me I was under surveillance and that I owed money to the taxation department and asked me to call back on 8518 4287. When I rang the number at first it was engaged for a while, then someone answered but didn't say their name and then hung up. The person who left the message was a male with an unusual accent which was hard to understand.

    Had a call claiming a warranty out for my arrest because of a missing signature on paperwork that classifies it as tax evasion. Did reverse lookup on the number and this number is mentioned in another thread as a tax scam along with a NSW number. Hang up and report on here so more people know about this number too.

    Did you get a text or call from 03 8518 4287? Please share as much information as you can about 0385184287 so other users can benefit from your comment.

    I got the same call as Karen at 2:20 on 22/10/2015 from the same mob. Report these mongrels as soon as possible.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
