    After calling through twice (one after the other) even though I rejected the call. They still called through after 7pm Australian time and when I asked for the name theybwouldnt supply it and kept talking over me and saying that the call benefits me something to do with electricity. It was called ‘electricity choice’ something annoying like that. The first time I called back the individual disconnected the call after I repeatedly told him to remove my number from their lists and continued to speak and was very rude. He even said ‘what you don’t understand sir is that you don’t know what is good for you and you keep telling me to remove your number when I’m trying to help you’. He was rude and very arrogant and wouldn’t let me speak. The second time I called because it was disconnected I spoke to someone else and I asked whether they knew what the time was and he said yes and then spoke very loudly and aggressively and when I said to remove my number from their list he keeps saying ‘it’s for your benefit’ repeatedly and wouldn’t listen to me. They’ve called every day for the past 3 weeks. Voicemails left was basically people talking in the background in another language. This company is very unprofessional and needs to teach their staff manners. This is unacceptable practice and is not allowed here. It shouldn’t be able to operate in Australia if they call at stupid times and don’t get it when the call is being rejected because I’m in a meeting and they continually call and harass me daily. No more.

    The caller with a foreign accent asked about my electricity provider. Offers a discount and asked for rates to be compared. I politely thanked him for his call and since the call is being recorded (according to him), I told him to remove my mobile phone from his list. Then blocked the number after I ended the call.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
