    Different day, different number, but the same dodgy mob behind the 2 calls received today from 03 8372 3223. Previously got a call from 03 9088 9060 on my work phone (supplied by my employer) from Melbourne, Victoria on Wednesday. They wanted to discuss my overdue gas and eletricity bill - I don't have one. They wouldn't give their name clearly, or provide information about their business, but they did say they were an assurance provider.

    Not the first time they have called, and they keep changing their number. Today the 2 calls came from 03 8372 3223 about my overdue Gas and Electricity bill. Again they are an assurance provider but they are located specifically in Craigieburn, Victoria.

    I have already lodged a report to scamwatch about these guys and will do so again, and again, and again. Hopefully one day someone will do something about these people and stop them.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
