    Just got a call from 03 8362 3245 less than an hour ago. Here is the verbatim message: "A complain under your name regarding tax avoidance and regarding tax fraud issue. So before we go on and take the matter into the commonwealth court and before we issue a warrant for your arrest, kindly call us back on our number that is 03 8362 3245. I repeat the number, that is 03 8362 3245. Do not disregard this message and do return the call as soon as possible. Again this is James Anderson calling you from the Australian Taxation Office.".

    Called the number back and the idiot asked if I knew Ricky Ponting, then said this is the end and I laughed n said end of what, he said pay $5000 or I will die. I laughed at him. He then claimed that I would be locked up so again I laughed and said I think he might be the one to get locked up and he hung up.

    Recorded message left from James Anderson saying that if I want to avoid being arrested to call 0383623245, something about a tax thing. Message sounded like a computer generated voice. Well James Anderson I think it might be you that is going to be arrested.

    Funny thing is that for the last 2 months we've been getting a missed call from a private number around the same time everyday, but not today. Is this James?

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
