Number will more than likely be changed now, most definitely a scam with a great deal of effort in conversation and email set-up with some simple grammatical and spelling errors which highlight its illegitimacy.

Don't believe the email, they're easy to fake. This sounds like a straight out scam.
Ask them for proof (I.e. whats my last name? How do you spell it? Where did you get this phone number from etc.).
Don't hand over any information, including your last name. They asked for mine and I wouldn't provide it.
Ask for a phone number to call back on if still unsure. The number they provided didn't match the D&B website.
