    Asked me why I had not responded to their text, told me it was about fitting a small power device that should be connected to my smartphone. Told them I already have one and am not interested, they asked me to hold the line while they took another call so I hung up straight away. They tried calling me back!!

    Two calls in 2 days to my mobile. Bogus "National Broadband Network" caller. (female, "sub-continental" accent) wanted the usual details. Strung her along for a couple of minutes thanks to hands free & me reading emails on the PC. The trick is to make them hang up first after a couple of minutes - ruins their productivity.

    Heavy Indian accent, claiming to be from Telstra. Telling me something about my internet connection issues. Wanted to send a technician to rectify and need my name, address etc. Gave her time to do the pitch and told her I only have mobile internet. She hanged up, not sure if it was something I said or done. I thought it was rather poor customer service.

    Spam call claiming they are Telstra but reckons you have an issue with your IP address and want you to remote access your PC, I kept them on the phone for 20 mins wasting their time.

    Saying my internet connection has had issues lately. Which it hasn't, and I'm not a Telstra customer. But was calling from what sounded like a busy office, but is not genuine.

    Suspected spam. No reason I should be getting calls from 03 numbers. I didn’t answer the first time. Second call an hour later as I was reading comments on here so blocked the number.

    Called 4 times in 1 day (did not pick up). A quick Google search suggests others have gotten multiple calls from this number.

    Missed the first time they called, answered the second time, which was within 2hrs of first call. No one answered after 5seconds and I could hear voices in the background like a call-centre. So I hung up.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
