    I have received calls from this one number on numerous occasions and again over the last 2 days and although on my Auto reject list, it rings and I let it go to voice mail but they leave no message. I do not know how they got my mobile number but I suppose it is easily obtainable. Other scammers and nuisance calls also come to my home phone number. Frustratingly, I have now set up my mobile phone, via a snooping tracker application, to track the IP Address of the caller originating address so I can send the offending computer IP address to the Federal Police.

    I also put a comment in my greetings message to say that I am tracking the IP and maybe, just maybe they will put a "Never Call this number" on their computer/s.

    Background Noise sounds like a call centre environment, with European accent.

    The agent knows my name, and asked if I'm over 18 yrs old. I hung up.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
