Understanding the Reports on 03 8001 7767

The number 03 8001 7767 has been flagged by a multitude of users as a scam number. Most notably, it appears to be involved in deceptive calls relating to electricity and solar power offers. Numerous reports indicate an alarming pattern of behaviour: callers hanging up immediately, failing to leave voicemails, and using aggressive tactics when questioned about their legitimacy.

Characteristics of the Scam

Reports suggest that many recipients describe a scenario where the caller begins a conversation under the guise of being from a utility or solar company. They request personal information, sometimes possessing existing knowledge about the callers' previous addresses and payment details, which increases the fear factor, making it more likely for victims to divulge sensitive information. The nature of these calls appears sophisticated; however, the common thread remains clear: it's a fraudulent scheme targeting unsuspecting individuals.

Alarmingly Common Signs

Common characteristics of this scam include:

  • Close-ended calls where the recipient hears silence or hangs up shortly after the call is answered.
  • Calls that come from a local number but originate from overseas call centres, likely making it harder to trace.
  • A tendency to press for personal information related to electricity services or soliciting offers regarding solar panels.
  • Significant use of fear tactics, suggesting financial consequences if the victim does not comply with their demands.

How to Protect Yourself

Given the overwhelming evidence pointing toward a scam, here's how to handle calls from this number:

  • Do Not Engage: If you receive a call from 03 8001 7767 / 0380017767, simply hang up.
  • Block the Number: If it's not already too late, blocking the number from your phone ensures you won't be disturbed by further calls.
  • Report the Number: Consider reporting the number to local consumer watchdogs or through platforms like Reverseau, helping others avoid the scam.
  • Use Whistleblowing Forums: Share experiences on sites dedicated to revealing scams, contributing to communal awareness.

In Conclusion

Overall, 03 8001 7767 / 0380017767 fits firmly in the scam category, undermined largely by recurring reports of harmful conduct aimed at tricking individuals into divulging personal information under false pretenses. Being vigilant and informed is paramount. Always remember, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is – and it’s always wise to do a quick Reverse Phone Lookup Australia to ascertain the legitimacy of the caller before sharing any sensitive information.

Today (29/09/21) My phone was switched off, but when I open it, I found 3 consecutive text messages saying;.

61380017767 called. No voicemail was left.

But the strange thing is; when I checked my call logs there were no missing calls ..!?

The other question I have is; Why the telecommunications giants, who take our money for a half-ass service, don’t get on top of such issues? After all, our peace of mind and security is part of their service.
