    One thing to please keep in mind when being called by unknown phone numbers is to never answer with "Yes" or "No", as the scammers can use the victim's voice to access other items like bank accounts and who knows what else. It is probably best to either hang up quickly or let all unknown calls go to voice mail.

    Indian woman - saying from National Broadband Network - that my files are showing as being corrupted!! Seriously who would fall for that.. really. Lots of background noise, other people speaking as well, so the illusion of a call centre environment.

    I just received a call from this number. It rang for 15 seconds and didn't leave a message. I never answer calls from numbers I don't know. If they are legit they will leave a message. This phone number is from a scammer.

    Definitely a scam because the idiot on the other line "Kevin Parker" was rude, angry and abusive. The automated message came from Amazon Prime about my subscription. The first idiot had no idea what to do so passed the phone onto someone who he obviously regards as his superior.

    And with a name like Kevin Parker.. Did not suit his 'assumed' ethnicity.

    Beware this number.

    Female scammer pretending to be from Telstra Tech Support. Said my internet service had become compromised and asked for details of people (family members etc) who I had given network access to. I said that was private information and I didn't have a Telstra account but she then said that Telstra was the "Mother company of Australia" and all internet services went through them! Told her I used Linux, firewall and VPN and there was no way my network was compromised. She hung up......

    I just received a call saying she was from Amazon Prime and my free trial was ended and I was about to be charged. I said I don't have a subscription and she said - thats ok we can arrange that now. I said not I don't want to subscribe and she said well if you give me your details I will cancel it for you. I said ok direct me to the Amazon site where I can do this and she said no you can't do it on the website. I then asked her to confirm where the payment was going to be charged (card or bank account) and she said - I can't give you that over the phone. I said well I can't give you my info over the phone either. She then got angry and hung up on me. Def a scam.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
