Such dubious practices are common from telemarketers in this realm, as they often aim to entrap consumers with offers that sound too good to be true.

  • Common Traits: Users frequently note nonsense questions about household items, such as energy monitors or shower heads. This is a classic disguise of a scam call, looking to confirm details that the caller should already realistically know.
  • Calling Patterns: Multiple complaints indicate that calls are persistent, frequently occurring on weekends and at unusual hours – signs of automated calling systems used by spam callers.
  • Background Noise: Many have reported that the calls originate from call centres, often characterised by heavy background noise and sometimes identifying an Indian accent in the callers, further questioning the legitimacy of the operation.

How to Deal with Spam Calls

  • Don’t Engage: Simple hung-ups or matrix door policy – don't engage with the caller. If they ask for information that seems personal or unnecessary, terminate the call immediately.
  • Use Reverse Lookup Services: Before answering unknown numbers, consider using Reverseau's reverse phone lookup Australia to identify potential scammers. This helps shield you from unsolicited calls.
  • Block the Number: Don't hesitate to block numbers that are persistent in calling you. Most smartphones have built-in features that allow you to blacklist unwanted callers.
  • Report Spam Calls: Inform local authorities or report these calls to the ACMA (Australian Communications and Media Authority). This aids in the fight against scam tactics.

What Our Users Reviewed

The callers apparently obtain your numbers from the DO NOT CALL Register, which raises concerns about privacy. If you are sharing your number on these lists, you may receive random calls regularly, as they purchase these lists to reach out to potential victims.

03 7067 5125. When ever I receive a call like that, I let it ring and reverse the number. Like others before me, they are asking about power saving devices from the government. What a load of bollocks and cods wallop. Scammers and sadly, usually an Indian accent, thus giving the majority of the Indian population a bad name. Betcha their parents don't know that they are involved in criminal activity.

H

The caller inquired if I had recently changed my shower heads and wanted to discuss it. I let the call go on for a while while they repeated "hello." Eventually, I hung up, as it seemed nonsensical.

P

I received another call from a number similar to 0370675XXX, specifically 70675125. They did not leave a message. It appears to be another telemarketing call related to the energy monitor program. While these ceiling fan seals are legitimate items provided for free by the Victorian government to improve home efficiency, telemarketers are now cold calling individuals to install them and collect government fees.

H
Hibbard

The caller hung up on me abruptly, which made me feel they were acting maliciously.

B

I am reporting this as complaint number 83. I believe this is likely a scam call intended to waste time, possibly impersonating someone from a legitimate company. Just because a caller claims to be from a particular business does not mean they are who they say they are!

N
Njoku

I didn’t pick up the call, but the caller left a voicemail in which he was singing a song, repeating, "So lonely mmmmmm... so lonelyyyy." It sounded odd and not like a typical message.

V
Vetter

The caller ended the call immediately after the user answered, leading them to believe this is likely a scam. They took precautionary measures by blocking the number.

B

I received a call from someone with an Indian accent asking about my power monitoring device. I did not feel comfortable speaking with them, especially since they called around 8 p.m. on a Friday night. I chose not to answer, and they hung up shortly after.

This is a scam. Every time I block a number, they immediately call from a different one. I received this call from a new number, and I've lost count, but it is likely around the 100th scam call I've had in the last six months.

M
Maull

I received a call about a free device that they install in the fuse box to supposedly fix my daily and unit charges, providing hourly readings. This sounds suspicious to me.

M
Martone

I keep receiving calls from various numbers that sound very similar. The callers know my full name and ask if I’ve received the energy-saving meter. I told them I had received it two weeks ago and they immediately hung up; it seemed very suspicious.

D

I unexpectedly received this call while my phone was in my pocket during a drive on a heritage steam locomotive. I imagine they heard the sound of steam and the whistle. They did not leave a message but paused for a few seconds before disconnecting. I have now blocked the number.

E

This number called me seven times today, clearly trying to scam me. I asked them not to hang up and to remove my number as I had previously requested, but instead, the caller became aggressive and swore at me before hanging up. I found it amusing, like a puppy that ran away without waiting for a response.

R

This number keeps calling every few months for many years, repeatedly asking for someone named David Owan. It seems like a persistent nuisance call.

W
Westerlund

This number has called me four times today. When I answered, it turned out to be a telemarketing call, so I hung up and blocked the number. I'm now getting harassed by another number (03) 7067 5195. It seems like calls to both (03) 7067 5125 and (03) 7067 5195 lead to a message saying the mobile number is disconnected. They are likely redirecting calls to a fake mobile number connected to Optus. Do not engage with these calls.

R

I avoid answering calls from numbers I do not recognize. If the call is legitimate, they should leave a proper message. I receive too many scam calls to take the risk.

S
Storer

I received a call from the number (03) 7067 5125. The caller not only knew my name but also asked me to confirm if I received an electricity meter. When I requested that they remove my phone number from their list, the caller responded rudely with "get lost." This was quite an unprofessional way to handle a marketing call.

C
Cooney

I received a call at around 2:30 PM from this number. They left a voicemail, but it was silent. Considering other reviews, it appears to be another scam or telemarketing call. I'm noting this down to contribute to the warning about this number.

B
Blundell

I received a call from someone with an Indian accent, who was in a call center environment. They addressed me by name and then abruptly hung up. When I tried to call back using the same number, I discovered it had been disconnected.

C
Corey

I have been harassed by this number, receiving five calls within just ten minutes, which is extremely frustrating.

B
Biscoe

I received a call on April 19th at 2:05 PM, and they left a voicemail, which seemed to be an accidental recording. In the background, I could hear an Indian woman speaking with a colleague in an Indian language and laughing. I have since blocked this number.

L
Levitt

I received a call at 8 PM on the Thursday before Easter Friday, and when I checked my voicemail, there was just background noise with no clear message.

F
Fleischman

I received two calls after 7 PM on Thursday night. The messages had several male voices in the background, making it sound like a bar environment. It seemed very suspicious.

B

I keep getting calls from these scammers despite having added my number to a block list. I once spoke with a lady from this company and asked her to remove my information, but they keep calling anyway.

O
Orlando

This call was about a power monitoring device installation. While it isn't a scam, the call was unsolicited and caught me off guard.

B
Brereton

It’s a company trying to provide “free” electricity monitor for Victorians. However, they do not have a record of who they installed so expect them to call you many many times. I suggest block this number and report to the authorities.

R
Retz

As soon as the caller asked if I had received my government energy monitor, I knew it was a scam and immediately hung up.

D
Duggan

I'm curious if others here have had experiences with a debt collection agency in recent years, which may have led to their personal information being illegally sold to scammers.

S
Streicher

The caller asked, "Am I speaking to David?" but that is not my name, so I promptly hung up. I'm also receiving similar calls from numbers starting with 03 90xx xxxx and 03 70xx xxxx, and I block each one as they come through.

A

I think this number is a scam call. I've received several previous calls from this number, and despite blocking it every time, the calls keep coming, especially on weekends. I am on the do not call register, so I'm puzzled about how they're still able to contact me.

R
Rawson

2 calls on 19/3/22 Optus message that number is disconnected..

Clearly a scam, robocall from desperate unethical uncontactable scumbag!

S
Steinhoff

These number called me and when I reverted the call could not be found.

P
Piano

This call was a spam attempt for some kind of powering device located in Victoria, which is not relevant to me since I don’t live there. I informed the caller that this is a spam call and asked them not to call again.

L
Lick

I get calls from this number and several others with slightly different last digits quite often. I don’t answer these calls and just block them after doing a reverse number lookup, as I prefer to identify unknown callers before deciding to answer.

L
Leader

I don't see the point in reporting this, as you don't publish comments, so there might be many more instances of this number calling.

B
Bellville

Junk call. When I called back it said “The number you have called is not connected…”
