Identifying the Source of Calls from 03 7067 5105

If you've received a call from 03 7067 5105 / 0370675105, you’re not alone. Numerous users have reported this number as a source of spam, particularly targeting individuals under the guise of offering free energy monitoring devices purportedly approved by the Victorian Government. Here’s an overview based on user feedback and analysis.

Classification of the Calls

The overwhelming consensus from user reports classifies calls from this number as spam. Characteristics indicative of telemarketing tactics include:

  • Unsolicited Contact: Many users have noted that they did not express interest in any energy monitoring devices, yet they received repeated calls.
  • Hanging Up: Several interactions resulted in the caller hanging up shortly after the recipient responded, a typical sign of a less-than-legitimate operation attempting to verify numbers rather than engage in genuine discourse.
  • Vague Responses: Callers often provided obfuscating answers regarding their identities and the source of their phone numbers, further raising suspicion of scam motives.

Specifics of the Reported Scam

Many reports highlight that the caller, often identified with a heavy Indian accent, claimed affiliation with an energy department and referenced a government initiative for free energy monitoring devices. Such claims have raised red flags, emphasising that this is likely a scam aimed at collecting personal information rather than offering any legitimate service.

Even users on the "Do not Call" register have experienced this annoyance, which only adds to the perception of the number’s illegitimacy.

Handling Unwanted Calls from 03 7067 5105

If you receive a call from this number, here are steps you can take:

  • Do Not Engage: Simply hang up if you answer and feel uncertain about the call.

  • Report the Number: You can report this number to the Do Not Call Register. Many users have suggested doing this to help combat unwanted calls.
  • Utilise Reverse Phone Lookup: Consider using services like Reverseau to determine the origin of calls if you're ever in doubt.

This number kept calling me despite my repeated requests for them to stop. I had previously done business with them, and after lodging a formal complaint with the Do Not Call (DNC) list, I have not received any further calls from them. I recommend ensuring that you are registered on the DNC list and reporting them if you continue to receive unsolicited calls.

A caller with a heavy Indian accent contacted me, claiming to be from the Australian Government's energy department. They asked if I wanted a meter attached to my smart meter, which raised my suspicions. When I inquired how they obtained my number, especially since I am registered on the “Do Not Call” list, they falsely stated that the government provided it to them. I found this hard to believe and ended the conversation by blocking their number.

I missed a call from this number, but I don't live in Victoria.

Called me about the Victoria Govt Rebate In Home Display.

Told me that they were coming tomorrow to install. He had my home address, but didn't realise that I am not the home owner. If someone is calling about that, it should be directed to the utility bill recipient. Unsure if legit, refused to give caller, email and another contact phone number. Repeatedly stated that he is not asking for money.
