Classification of the Calls
Based on the user feedback, we classify 03 7047 6982 / 0370476982 under the spam scam call category. Here's why:
- Pressure Tactics: Similar to reported incidents worldwide, calls from this number often convey threats of service disconnection, creating a false sense of urgency among recipients.
- Demand for Personal Information: Multiple users have reported that they were asked to provide sensitive information, including potentially their PIN numbers. Legitimate organisations never request sensitive data over the phone.
- Confusing Messaging: Many complaints highlighted messages spoken in both Chinese and English, implying a widespread tactic to complicate their requests further. Such strategies intentionally target multilingual barriers to mislead individuals.
- No Legit Connection: The fact that numerous individuals have derogatorily identified this as a scam indicates a lack of any genuine affiliation with Vodafone or legitimate services within Australia.

This number called me numerous times, insisting that I send money for a product. I confronted the caller and told him to stop, identifying him as a scammer. Despite this, he continued to call me an additional 19 times. Unprofessional and bothersome!
I did unfortunately what should I do now?
I received a call on December 22, 2023. I did not answer because my mobile's spam protection identified it as "potential fraud". The caller did not leave a message.
This number leaves messages in Chinese, which is extremely annoying for me as I cannot understand the language.
I also received a call from this number, but no voicemail was left. Could this be spam?
The number 7047 6982 called me on December 19 and left a voicemail stating there was a problem with my Chinese visa. The message instructed me to press 1 for Chinese service or 9 for English. As I’m an Australian citizen with no recent dealings in China, I believe this is a scam.
I received a voicemail from this number, but I believe it was in Chinese. I'm unable to understand the content, so I'm unsure if it was a legitimate message or not.
I keep receiving numerous calls from the numbers (03) 7047 8191 and (03) 7047 6982 on both my mobile and landline—often multiple times a day. They never leave a message, and it seems suspicious since changing just the final digits in these numbers is unusual. There don’t appear to be any previous reports about them.
Likely scam; went straight to voicemail and message was from a health department in english & mandarin asking for final payments. Scam.
SCAM!! Called at 10 pm. Prerecorded voice talking some Chinese rubbish. Then it said in English: “Your phone will be disconnected in 2 hours. For English, press 1. For Chinese, press 2.” Don’t answer this number!!
