Community reports for 03 7037 8538 (0370378538): Callers falsely claim to be health insurance comparison agents, insisting prior conversations occurred to extract personal information.
Health Insurance Impersonation Reports for 03 7037 8538
Two contributors have reported calls from 03 7037 8538 (also written as 0370378538) involving callers impersonating health insurance comparison agents. Both reports describe callers claiming to follow up on conversations that never happened, using false notes or records as justification to extract insurance provider details.
The pattern is consistent across both reports about 0370378538: the caller references a supposed prior conversation or callback request, insists their records confirm this interaction, and pressures the contributor to disclose which health insurance company they use. When questioned about details of the alleged conversation, the callers cannot provide specifics and instead ask the contributor to simply volunteer the information.
What Callers from 03 7037 8538 Claim
Both contributors reported speaking with men with Indian accents. One identified himself as "Ben" and the other did not provide a name but was described as "some Indian guy." Both callers used remarkably similar scripts, claiming they were returning calls or following up on callback requests supposedly made weeks or months earlier.
In one call to 03 7037 8538, the caller insisted he had recently spoken with the contributor and that they were "too busy to talk" at the time, so he was "calling back" as promised. When the contributor denied this conversation, the caller shifted tactics and said "well seeing as though I have you on the line, tell me which company you have health insurance with." When pressed to provide details of the alleged prior conversation, the caller from 0370378538 claimed he couldn't access that information in his system and that it would be "easier" if the contributor simply told him.
The other report describes a nearly identical scenario: the caller claimed the contributor had requested a comparison call two months prior and that it was scheduled for that day. When challenged on the timeline and the validity of the request, the caller offered no verifiable details.
Report Patterns and Caller Behaviour
Both calls to 03 7037 8538 occurred on the same day in May 2026. One contributor specifically noted a noisy call centre background, consistent with offshore operations handling bulk calling campaigns.
The impersonation tactic is deliberate and manipulative. Contributors were confronted with false claims of prior agreement to lower their guard and make them more likely to share information. One contributor recognised the fabrication immediately, noting they had not had health insurance for six years, making a two-month-old callback request logically impossible. Both contributors independently recognised the deception and terminated the calls.

Keeps ringing, no one there, hangs up straight away
Some Indian guy who couldn’t pronounce my name claimed to be a comparison agent for health insurance. Said he was returning my call. Told him I didn’t call him. He said his notes said he spoke to me recently and I was too busy to talk, so he said he would call me back (lies!). Told him again that this didn’t happen and he said “well seeing as though I have you on the line, tell me which company you have health insurance with”. I said I was not going to feed him personal information. He said “but we had a conversation recently and you already told me who you have your insurance with” (I know this is not true) so I said “well how about you tell me which company I told you when we last spoke”. He said he couldn’t see that information and would be easier if I just told him. I said “I think it would be much easier if I just ended this call”
So I hung up and blocked.
Indian “Ben” called claiming I had required a call back to get a comparison done on my health insurance. Told him I did no such thing. “Ben” suggested his notes said I had requested a call for today. I asked when I supposedly asked for this call and he said “2 months ago”.
I find this ludicrous as (a) I have never suggested such a thing, and (b) I have not had health insurance for the past 6 years.
Noisy call centre background. I hung up and blocked number.
Didn't leave a message. Got a similar call earlier the same day

WRITE A REVIEWFrequently Asked Questions
Why would a caller claim we spoke when we never did?
This is a deliberate impersonation tactic used to build false credibility. By claiming a prior conversation, the caller from 03 7037 8538 (0370378538) creates an illusion that you initiated contact, making you more likely to cooperate. When you dispute the claim, they pivot to asking you to simply provide the information directly. It's designed to catch you off-guard and lower your resistance to sharing personal details.
What should I do if they mention details they couldn't possibly know?
If a caller from 0370378538 mentions your name or suburb, this suggests your contact information came from a data breach or purchased list, not from a prior conversation with a legitimate company. Do not assume this proves legitimacy. Scammers often verify names and addresses to make their impersonation more convincing. Hang up and block the number immediately.
Could 03 7037 8538 be a legitimate health insurance company calling back?
Legitimate health insurance comparison services do not operate this way. A genuine company would not insist a conversation happened when you deny it, would not claim to have records they cannot access, and would not pressure you to disclose your current provider after you've refused. If you genuinely requested a health insurance quote, you would remember it, and the caller would provide specific details of your request. Always verify by calling the company's official number independently.
Is this number linked to a real health insurance provider?
The number 03 7037 8538 is allocated to a local service provider (Symbio Networks) in Victoria. It is not a direct line to any known major health insurance company. Scammers often use standard local numbers to appear legitimate. Never assume a Victorian area code (03) means the call is from a local Australian business - verify any health insurance claim by contacting the provider through their official website or the general contact number you find yourself.
What happens if I tell them my insurance company?
If you disclose your health insurance provider to a caller from 0370378538, you've confirmed that you are an insured customer with that company. This information can be sold to other scammers or used in follow-up impersonation attempts where the caller pretends to be from your actual insurance provider. Your name, phone number, and insurance provider are now linked in their database, making you a more valuable target for future social engineering attacks.
Should I report this to my health insurance provider?
Yes. Contact your actual health insurance provider directly (using the number on your policy or their official website, not any number the scammer provided) and inform them that someone is impersonating comparison agents and falsely claiming customers have requested callbacks. This helps them understand that their customer lists or brand may be targeted by scammers using 03 7037 8538 (0370378538). They may also advise you if there has been a data breach affecting their customers.
