    Scam!!! it seems that is the ATO, which I though that it was real cause the ATO is actually reviewing my tax returns. I spent over the phone 15 minutes till I realized that it was fake. I call a few times later on to follow up and make a laugh, I asked them why do they do a SCAM and he said that he loved steal money and then he hang out. They say that you cant pay over the phone so you have to go to BIGW (in that moment you realised that is super fake) and pay in person to some secret tax agent. So, not sure if they want to steal you money or express kidnap.

    Just got a call from this number.

    It was a recorded message with a female voice saying she was from some dept of the tax office and that I was going to be taken to court/arrested due to unpaid taxes (disability pensioner= I don't pay tax) and that I should call them back on this number to avoid going to jail.

    Totally a scam... Looking forward to calling them back.

    I got a call too. Immediately reported to the ATO as a scam.

    However, I also called back just to f*k with them. The man who answered didn't reference the ATO, so I told him I call from this number and he asked for my name. I said no.

    He said "Well get the f*k off then".

    He did not answer my 23 follow up calls.

    Just recieved the same phone call. Recorded message with no identification - no mention of my name, my address or any other indication that the caller knows anything about me. it's potentially a phishing scam. Don't call them back.

    Just got the same call / scam.

    Very random though that this is a Launceston number and I holidayed there on the weekend.

    Freakishly co-incidental.

    Has me a little worried!

    ATO scam stating that an affidavit has been taken out against me and that my house is under surveillance. Not to disregard this message and to phone the number back immediately. No reference number, no contact details used.

    Not sure how you can be served an affidavit over the phone. Further, why they're calling from Launceston.

    Feels like a scam.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
