Understanding the Reported Call
On 13 October 2023, a user reported receiving a distressing phone call from someone using this number, who identified himself as a Vodafone representative. Why This Number is Considered Suspicious
- High-Pressure Tactics: The caller employed harsh questioning and an interrogation-like tone, a common tactic used by scammers to intimidate victims.
- Lack of Credibility: Calls from legitimate companies generally display their name on caller ID, which was not the case here, raising further questions about the identity of the caller.
- No Follow-Up Protocol: After asking questions, the caller abruptly hung up when the recipient sought to clarify matters, exhibiting behaviour that is not typical of professional customer service representatives.
How to Handle Similar Calls

- Do Not Engage: Avoid sharing personal information or engaging in discussions that seem confrontational.
- Verify the Caller: If the caller claims to be from a legitimate organisation, hang up and contact that organisation directly through official channels to confirm the validity of the call.
- Report Suspicious Activity: If you suspect the call was a scam, report it to authorities or use platforms such as Reverseau to gather information about the number.

What Our Users Reviewed
Received a phone call from Hobart. A man claimed to be from Vodafone. He had a deep voice and able to address me by my name, but he didn't introduce himself. He alleged that I was using my phone number 0411... To send fraudulent texts to solicit donations from people. He said he had to report me to the government and demanded to know why I had that number. I explained the reasons why I hold the number and I would cooperate with the authorities if they contacted me, then he just hung up on me abruptly.
He was using harsh and interrogation tone whole time when asking questions, implying that I was guilty. And the call didn't show up as Vodafone on my screen. All these things raised my doubts about his identity. So I suspect it was a scam attempt.
