    I received a call from this number they left an automated message twice on my answer machine I called the number and a guy answered stating that it was the tax office and that the tax office don't call you if there was a problem they would send you a letter and that the call was probably a hoax. The strange thing is he asked if I'm calling from the number I was called from I said no. I actually called from my mobile but hid my number just incase. So I was worried this was the scammer and maybe the authorities were onto him. So I called Telstra and reported it they advised me it is a scam they listened to the message as well and confirmed it also they checked my call log and advised that it seemed calls were coming from overseas and we never call overseas on this phone. Telstra also advised there has been a large volume of complaints on this. So please be safe don't be so quick to trust and if in any doubt call the tax office directly on there provided numbers on their official website these scums of the earth are out to destroy lives I hope the police catch up with them soon and the get their just deserves.

    I received a Message from the ATO from a man saying a legal course of action against for tax evasion and tax avoidance and if I didn't call them or my lawyer call them back on 03 6121 4145 there would be a warrant for my arrest and they would forcefully recover the amount owed through legal court actions. They also said my house is under surveillance.

    I believe this is a scam Don't give them your details.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
