    Received a call this morning from the same number. Alleging to be the ATO and asking me to return the call urgently. Happy I looked up this number and have read all these reviews.

    I just received the same call from this number stating that it was ATO and I needed a lawyer and to contact (Nicky Johnson) unsure of correct spelling.. However I rang them and they answered and I spoke to a Officer Jason White which apparently was the supervisor telling me nicky has filed a lawsuit against me for 4 counts of fraudulent activities and stealing nearly $5000 and not paying tax within the last seven years and not stating I was in a relationship while receiving ftb.. Which I did btw.. And is stated on all my docs.. Also I have only been in Australia for 7 months.. A guy Officer Alan Brooks id no;305629 told me they had sent me mail and been trying to contact me and I had been avoiding them.. But I had never received mail or calls from them.. He then told me my passport had been temporarily stopped my bank cards and licence had been cancelled and there was a warrant to cease all my property.. He said there will be officers to arrest me at my address within the next hour.. I would then go to commonwealth court within the next 3 days where they would have all this evidence against me and I could most likely go to jail for up to 10 years, pay a $21000 fine and be deported back to nz.. This has really disturbed my night but I have all document I need to prove that I have done everything correct and legal.. Just thought id share my story with yous thanks.

    Just received the same call from this number. Says It is the Australian Taxation office and that it is urgent for my lawyer or myself to ring them back without delay. Definitely a scam! ATO does not leave these kind of messages.

    I just had a call to my landline from this no which I did not answer but let go through to my messagebank. Said it was the ATO and that I or my lawyer should call. It was a female voice (I think) and somewhat distorted and hard to fully understand. However I feel very suspicious about it and will not be calling back. The ATO always write via snail mail, and why wouldn't they contact my accountant anyway if there was really an issue?

    Recorded message saying it was from ATO and that either I or my lawyer needed to call them back.

    Confirmed with ATO that this is a fraudulent call.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
